ACETAL / DELRIN

Acetal is an excellent general purpose thermoplastic. It is commonly used for bushings, bearings, rollers and gears because it has high tensile strength, stiffness and excellent sliding properties. Acetal has very good dimensional stability and it machines exceptionally well making it perfect for precision components. Acetal is recommended for underwater components due to its low moisture absorbtion, and it is FDA approved.
NYLON

Nylon plastics are defined by their toughness, low coefficient of friction and good abrasion resistance. Commonly used for gears, sheaves, rollers and high load bearings. There is a variety of nylon for every application whether you require improved machinability (Nylon 66), better coefficient of friction (Oil filled), enhanced temperature resistance (Heat stabilised) or increased strength and stiffness (Glass filled). Please contact Datco to ensure the correct material is selected for your application.
HDPE

A highly versatile polymer that exhibits excellent chemical and impact resistance. This multi-purpose polyethylene is used in numerous industries including chemical, food processing, pipe and marine. Ideal for cutting boards, fabricated tanks and it has excellent insulation properties. HDPE is predominately available in black and white, however the Playtec series which is used for play and leisure equipment is avialable is a variety of colours.
UHMWPE

Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylenes are in a league of their own when it comes to impact and abrasion resistance. Combined with an extremely low coefficient of friction UHMWPE is ideal for chain guides, rollers, lining systems, wear strips and scraper blades. Used widely in the food and packaging industries UHMWPE is also available is a UV stabilized grade.
POLYPROPYLENE

Polypropylene is an economical material that offers a combination of outstanding chemical, mechanical, thermal and electrical properties not found in any other thermoplastic. Polypropylene can be easily fabricated and as a result is widely used for plating tanks and storage vessels. Other applications include pipe flanges, benchtops and pump components.
PVC

Polyvinyl Chloride has exceptional corrosion resistance and is ideally suited for applications where maximum chemical resistance is necessary. Its high strength to weight ratio, cost efficiency, ease of fabrication and good dimensional stability make it a great choice for chemical storage vessels and tank liners.
PTFE

PTFE is an amazing material. Its wide range of properties include outstanding chemical resistance, a continuous working temperature range of -260deg C to +260deg C, a low coefficient of friction and total UV resistance. It has excellent insulation properties and is suitable for use with food. Used for seals, gaskets, o-rings, valve seats and linings (chemical). The addition of fillers such as glass, carbon and bronze can further enhance the properties of PTFE .
ERTALYTE

Ertalyte - PETP has simular properties to acetal although it has a lower coefficient of friction and higher dimensional stability. Ertalyte has excellent wear resistance (comparable or even better then Nylon) and is widely used for gears, precision bushes and slide guides.

Ertalyte TX - The addition of an internal lubricant even further reduces the coefficient of friction and enables it to be used in high pressure-velocity applications. Ertalyte TX machines superbly and is food approved.

POLYCARBONATE

Polycarbonate is virtually unbreakable. It has 250 times the impact strength of glass and 30 times that of acrylic. Excellent material for machine guards and vandel resistant glazing due to its light weight, good clarity and ease of fabrication. Polycarbonate machines well, has high dielectric strength and can withstand temperatures up to 135deg C.
ACRYLIC

Acrylic is a lightweight and economical substitute for glass that has better optical quality. Acrylic will not yellow after prolonged exposure to sunlight and has 10-17 times greater impact strength than glass. Typical applications include fabricated point of sale displays, lolly dispensing units, skylights and cubby house windows. Acrylic is available in a wide range of tints and colours.
ADVANCED ENGINGEERING PLASTICS

AEPP’s exhibit very high properties for thermoplastics in the areas of strength, stability, wear and temperature. They also offer improved chemical resistance and increased dielectric properties.
Materials such as Ketron Peek, Techtron HPV PPS and Celazole PBI offer properties far superior to that of conventional plastics.
